There comes a moment in every believer’s journey when something shifts—not outwardly, but deeply within. It is not always marked by visible success or measurable results, but by a quiet certainty: God is working, even when we cannot see it.
This is the beginning of a new season.
Not just for one person, but for anyone willing to walk in obedience and trust. A season where faith is no longer dependent on outcomes, but anchored in purpose.
The Role We Play—and the Role We Don’t
One of the most important lessons in the Christian walk is understanding our role versus God’s role.
Scripture makes this clear:
“I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the increase. So then neither he who plants is anything, nor he who waters, but God who gives the increase” — 1 Corinthians 3:6–7
We are called to plant seeds.
We are called to water.
But we are not called to produce the harvest.
Too often, we carry a burden that was never ours to carry. We try to change people. We try to force outcomes. We measure success by visible results. But the truth is simple: only God changes hearts.
Our responsibility is faithfulness.
His responsibility is transformation.
When we truly understand this, it frees us. We can serve, speak, love, and minister without pressure—trusting that God is working beneath the surface in ways we may never fully see.
The Farmer of Faith
Faith is not a one-time action—it is a lifestyle of consistent sowing.
“Let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart” — Galatians 6:9
A farmer does not plant seeds and expect a harvest the next day. There is time, patience, and trust involved. There are seasons of waiting where nothing appears to be happening.
But beneath the soil, something is growing.
In the same way, every word spoken in truth, every act of love, every moment of obedience is a seed planted. Some will take root quickly. Others may take years. Some we may never see come to fruition in this lifetime.
But none of it is wasted.
God honors faithful sowing.
Dying to Self, Living in Christ
At the core of spiritual growth is a difficult but necessary truth: it is not about us.
“I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me” — Galatians 2:20
This is where transformation happens.
We are called to lay down our pride, our desires for recognition, our need to be seen or validated. The old self—the one driven by ego, comparison, and approval—must be surrendered.
This is not a one-time decision. It is a daily process.
Each day, we choose:
God over self
Purpose over comfort
Obedience over recognition
And in that surrender, something powerful happens—Christ begins to live more fully through us.
The Trap of Seeking Approval
One of the most subtle distractions in the Christian walk is the desire for human approval.
“For am I now seeking the approval of man, or of God? Or am I trying to please man? If I were still trying to please man, I would not be a servant of Christ” — Galatians 1:10
When we seek validation from others, we become dependent on their responses. Their encouragement lifts us, but their silence discourages us.
This creates instability.
But when our identity is rooted in God, everything changes. We realize we are already accepted, already seen, already enough—not because of what we do, but because of who He is.
This frees us to serve without expectation.
To give without needing recognition.
To walk in confidence, even when no one is watching.
The Reality of the Narrow Path
Following Christ is not the easy road.
“Wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction… But narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life” — Matthew 7:13–14
The world will often pull in the opposite direction.
It offers quick satisfaction, temporary pleasure, and endless distractions. It tells us to follow our feelings, to pursue comfort, to seek revenge when wronged.
But truth does not always feel easy.
Loving your enemies does not feel natural.
Forgiving those who hurt you does not feel fair.
Choosing humility over pride does not feel rewarding in the moment.
Yet Jesus calls us higher:
“Love your enemies… bless those who curse you” — Matthew 5:44
“Do not judge, or you too will be judged” — Matthew 7:1
These are not suggestions—they are the path to true transformation.
Growth Through Weakness
Spiritual growth is not about perfection. It is about surrender.
“My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness” — 2 Corinthians 12:9
There will be moments where we fall short. Times when we drift, struggle, or lose focus.
But even in those moments, God is not finished.
He uses our failures to refine us.
He uses our weakness to strengthen us.
He uses our setbacks to draw us closer.
Nothing is wasted when it is surrendered to Him.
Trusting God’s Direction
When we stop relying on our own understanding and begin trusting God fully, clarity follows.
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths” — Proverbs 3:5–6
We do not need to have everything figured out.
We simply need to trust the One who does.
God is not asking for perfection—He is asking for obedience.
Step by step.
Day by day.
Living It Out Daily
A life aligned with Christ is not built in a moment—it is built in daily decisions.
Choosing to pray even when you don’t feel like it
Choosing to repent when convicted
Choosing to seek Him before the world
Choosing peace over chaos
And as we do, something begins to settle within us:
“The peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus” — Philippians 4:7
This peace is not dependent on circumstances.
It is the result of alignment.
💭 Reflection
Where in your life are you trying to control the outcome instead of trusting God with the process?
Are you measuring your faithfulness by visible results, or by your obedience?
What would change if you truly believed that your role is simply to plant and trust God with the growth?
🙏 Prayer
Lord,
Teach me to be faithful in the small things. Help me to plant seeds of truth, love, and obedience without needing to see immediate results. Remove the desire for approval from others and root my identity fully in You.
Give me the strength to walk the narrow path, even when it is difficult. Help me to surrender my pride, my plans, and my expectations so that Your will may be done in my life.
When I grow weary, remind me that You are working beneath the surface. When I feel weak, remind me that Your strength is made perfect in me.
Guide my steps, align my heart, and fill me with Your peace.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
In Christ,
